SOMETHING SPECIAL
New York, NY (July 2004)
51 MacDougal Street
"Something Special" store was located on the west side of MacDougal near the corner of Houston Street. The owner of the store and the building, Lenny Cecere, lived upstairs with his family since 1962. The store sold sweets, jewelry, various knick-knacks, provided key making and notary public services. It was also a mailbox center and became a drop box for local celebrity mail. Something Special was a throwback to the unique "mom & pop" shops that were once common in New York City.
