Back in the late 1970’s when I was photographing in Pittsburgh’s Northside neighborhood, I knew I was photographing an overlooked and sometimes forgotten group of people.

These were people who worked hard their entire lives.most likely at low paying jobs and struggled to get by in their later years. Yet, they were people who seemed proud, especially of their neighborhoods. They had a strong sense of dignity. Good people.
